This is quite strange, because whilst I have never actually thought about it, I also agree with this. And yes, the second album in each pair ranks higher than the first in my preferences of the albums. It will be interesting to see if JÄIRFM follows that pattern for me to.

I like Isis & Bast, the chorus isn't as good as the rest of the song for me though. I find it to be a bit similar to Minimalen and Ensam Lång Väg Hem.
I think TTS was actually better than Rod and Vapen is just as good as DOJD for me. But I agree about the rest, interesting pattern though the change from TTS to En Plats i Solen or the new one aren't as much as the change from albums 1/2 and albums 3/4.
I don't really think a band needs to find their sound. They should try mixing more and add new sounds. Kent for example should try making the early sounding indie stuff (they probably won't) as well as the more guitar heavy stuff and songs with synths.

I agree with 4 of these 5 couples. I don't see the similarity between Vaen and Du Och Jag Doden, only the second one, in my opinion is "adult-rock, emotional and splendly sad". I see Vapen as their first attempt to sound more radio friendly keeping the same quality level.
Gulo Gulo lover forever!
Maybe my brilliance shining through
il disfattismo preserva l'integrità del setto nasale
In fact, that's the couple that has less similarity than others. Anyway I see a lot of common ideas between an opening like "Sundance Kid" and "400 Slag", or a song like "Sverige" and "Järnspöken". And "Socker" for me is one of the most "emotional and splendly sad" songs they ever did. In both of the records there is a classical rock-band guide of instruments (voice, guitar, guitar, drums, bass) strongly supported by synthesizers, that remain in background anyway (later, they'll begin the lead guide of Kent music). In my opinion.
Vi var alla en gång små,
vi ska alla en gång dö
Live performance of Jag Ser Dig on the website sounds good. Better than the album version, you can hear the bass and Jocke's voice during the chorus doesn't sound like it's cracking or high-pitched.
Although it's still a bit of a bland song, I think a few of the other ones would make a better single.

So, my thoughts on the album after 30+ listens....
I think it's.... great! After the first couple of listens I thought it might even be my favourite Kent album, but the 'new album hype' has died off a bit now and I'd say it's probably an 8 out of 10 for me. I'm gonna do a track by track review for y'all.
999 - I still think this is in the wrong place. I think it should have been the album closer, and I really wish the solo-y bit at the end went on for longer (although as an opener, I can see why it doesn't). I still think it's a brilliant track, inspired choice for a single.
Petroleum - Your pretty standard track 2, to be honest. I like it, it rattles along fairly quickly, but there's nothing here that makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.
Isis & Bast - This is more like it! Unique sounding song with some glorious 'aaah's' and a dark undercurrent. Love the lyrics (well, the translation) to this too.
Jag Ser Dig - Great pop song. Obvious choice for the next single, I have a feeling I'll get a bit bored of it over time though. I tend to do that with a lot of the more poppy sounding songs.
Tänd På - Easily the weakest track on the album for me. I like the verses, but the chorus is just a bit too U2 for my liking.
Beredd På Allt - Love this. Another dark song with some great synths and backing track. The chorus is great with the 'RADSLA' bit, and I think the fade out is brilliant at the end too.
Ruta 1 - I don't get the hate for this track. My favourite song on the album by a country mile. Delicate, electro-tinged ballad, absolutely beautiful. Nearly brought me to tears on the first listen.
Färger På Natten - AKA The One I Always Forget How It Goes. When it comes on I always enjoy it, but I'd be lying if I didn't think it was a bit forgettable.
Låt Dom Komma - Superb, almost disco number. If there was any justice in the world this would be the third single, and the video would be Kent performing it in a disco with a mirrorball dressed in pink spandex. Yes!
Hänsyn - Wow. Completely unexpected closer, really enjoyable. Love the samples and vocals in this one.
Looking forward to seeing a few of these performed live now.
The album needs a few listens... It's not as immediate as DOJD or Rod or EPIS but it is a good album. A bit more elaborate, a bit less electronic than the two predecessors (sad for me) but still... It is quite rare those days to have albums like this!
I have my cd! Got it from ebay, and I'll be listening to it properly tonight. Finally!

I totally love the album, I have had lots of listens and I'm so pleased with how it sounds. Oddly, I was a little worried as there had been mixed reviews, but none of the songs disappoint me. The weather here is amazing right now (this week will be our 'summer' no doubt) and walking to and (from work) every day with JÄIRFM in my ears is just the best start to the day, the album just seems to fit with the sunshine! I made some notes on my first listen to the album, but they're at home on the laptop. I love how the drums and piano feature heavily in this album, the drums seem higher in the mix than most music usually is, and I really like it. Favourite tracks so far are Petroleum, Beredd på allt and Låt dom komma.
Thanks kent for another amazing album!![]()

So far I'd say I'm in like with the album rather than in loveThat's OK though because you don't have to love everything a band do, and more to the point the quality and consistency that Kent produce continues!
999 is a real grower in every sense, and of course Petroleum is a classic single in every sense of the word. I'm particularly impressed by Beredd på allt which is if you like a bridge song between the open, inviting sound and their darker moments.
Seenas everyone has kinda tried to place it in the middle of Kent history I'll do the same. As ever it feels like a step, another pace away from the last album although this is not as big a move as say from Röd to Solen. To me, as a listener with very limited knowledge of Swedish I can't place the tones of the songs because often I can't understand the meaning. I love songs that sound happy but are sad lyrically but here I can only go off artwork, arrangements and general sound. ManInTheWhiteHat tried one way of compartmenting the albums, but for me, this is a record that is "light" in the same way that En Plats was, and perhaps Isola or Vapen. Obviously the alternative is something that feels darker, like Röd or D&JD.
Yeah true, that has a nice swing and big chorus to it.
