Hi,
kent have found a new record company. They are changing to Universal music. New album to follow?
Gosh!
Interesting news, I somehow thought they'd be with sony bmg forever. Although the quote from Martin Roos, says it all really...
Here's a full translation of the press release from Universal....
Press release from Universal Music, 22 June 2011
Sweden's biggest band kent change record companies and sign a new agreement with Universal Music Sweden.
"It feels really good and we are very proud. We have wanted to have the chance to work with kent for a long time and now it is possible.
kent have written music history in Sweden and we are really looking forward to working with them" says Per Sundin, MD of Universal Music Sweden.
"After 16 years at BMG/Sony, it feels good to have a new start and Universal Music gave us the best offer" says Martin Roos, manager of kent.
And if I'm being pedantic, someone better tell those folk at Universal's press department that kent doesn't have a capital k in their name. (I fixed them in the translation!)
Actually, this might explain why the sony kent widget on the kent homepage disappeared a month or so ago. It will be interesting to see if it's replaced with anything similar.

Good news! That means that at least another five albums will be released before the band retires (or changes record companies again)
It's a matter of negotiation. It can be more albums (6-8). On the other hand a band can be dropped after one unsuccessful album.
Long term contracts often entail one greatest hits package. In Kent's new deal this shouldn't occur before the fourth album.
I'm certain that we'll here a lot of new music in the coming years
