Some old kent reviews, etc...

Well, whilst googling for something totally unrelated, I came across this old website (last updated in 1998!), and I’ve just spent a couple of hours trawling through their archives from back in the mid-late 90s. It seems to be an email digest thing concentrating on Scandinavian music with mostly tour/ festival/ album release dates and the odd email from someone on the list discussing a band popular at the time. There’s quite a few kent mentions (mostly concert dates), I made screencaps of some of the more interesting stuff (reviews, etc), if anyone fancies reading them.

All content is from Scandinavian Indie. Any email addresses that were posted have been removed just in case they are still active.

Possibly one of the earliest kent gig reviews around- an online calendar dates this gig to either Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th October 1994 at Studion, Stockholm. Frippe, I don't see this one on your very extensive list!

A mention of a 'secret' kent gig at Hannas Krog in Stockholm, dates to Thursday 22nd March 1996. Frippe, I don't see this on your list either, if it actually happened?

Thanks heaps, stjärnor. It is great to read about people's views on Kent in their beginnings.

By the way, I was at Lollipop but didn't care enough to follow their concert - and missed that they played Stripped. My view of them started to alter when I saw them on Arvika two years later, and heard them cover the same song.

You're welcome! I'm really surprised that such an old website is still about.

I love how the 94 reviewer doesn't seem to like Jocke's stage presence, and the 96 reviewer just thinks he's amazing!

And I bet you kick yourself now for not seeing them at Lollipop in 1996!

I browsed through Scandinavian Indie a couple of years ago and I have some notes since then that I will implement in the gig history at kentjunkie when I get the time. Thanks for the reminder.
