My boyfriend is devastated, he worked at Hannover 96 a few seasons ago and knew Robert. Said he was a lovely man, very intelligent and kind, not at all the stereotypical footballer. He was very into animal rights, campaigned for them and when he lived in Lisbon rescued lots of stray dogs off the streets. It's so, so sad. My heart goes out to his wife.

jimmy- have you got an 'alternative' team for the world cup? Since Sweden haven't made it through I'm struggling for someone to support (although Algeria/USA/Slovenia are looking tempting!!!)

I bet The Netherlands are going to do what they did in the EC... Totally nail the groups, making everyone believe they have a big chance and then blowing it in the quarter finals. The fact that they did so good so far only makes me think more that this will happen

At least I won't get any of the 'orange madness' this time... even though that can be quite fun at times too.

And even though I feel sad about Sweden, at least there's no risk of a Sweden-The Netherlands game now, as that could almost mean the end of my relationship

As for the world cup, not too bothered what happens, Scotland ain't there, Sweden ain't there, and i'll probably be watching the England games as there are a group of ex-pats in Umeå (around 40 of us) who are all Englishmen, except me and 1 more Scot, 1 Welshman and a bloke from Ireland. I had a mate send me an invite on Facebook for the Algeria/USA/Slovenia supporters group haha!
