    Hi Trickster

Were you at the Norrköping or Uppsala gigs? (cos the Stockholm gig isn't for 20 days yet- not that I'm counting!!!)
Really pleased that you loved the show and that kent were worth waiting for! You'll have been bitten by the kent bug now, I know I was!
Looking forward to seeing your pics- I love the little 'room' at the start of the set.

I was at the Uppsala show.
    God it was awesome!
It was the first concert I attended outside Greece and the difference is huge. The sound, the people, the visuals and most important the band!
Still cant get it out of my head.

I got in Uppsala around 17:00 and headed to the venue to listen to Kent soundchecking.
The line was huge already and I was so happy to listen to them playing live.
400 Slag and På Nära Håll were the ones I managed to catch before they stopped.

I had a decent position compared to the time I entered the venue and got some decent pics too.

Merch table was accepting credit cards and had all the regular JAIRFM t-shirts, the 4 poster set (came in handy small tube), guitar picks in white and black, some small jewellery (400 kr each), drumsticks etc.
If you cannot make something in the pics please ask for details.

If you are attending any of the rest of the shows from the summer tour, dont forget to switch your cameras during the last song or towards the end of it.
I had no idea what was coming

Some photos uploaded on facebook but I wish the quality wasnt downgraded so much.
Detail is much better in some of them, especially in the little room ones.

    https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=e6735aec37

God I now love this band so much more and I didnt know this was even possible.
I wish Jocke or some other member from the band would read the English forum.
I wanna say a big thank you to them. More than 10 years of waiting and finally the dream came true.
Totally worth the trip from Greece (not that I had any doubts about that).

ευχαριστώ (I hope google translate got that right, I remember it sounds something like 'efheristo'!) they were great pics, you had a great spot. The merch stall ones, too. Did ticnet swap your tickets for the Uppsala ones, or did you just buy new ones?

That is exactly how I felt after I saw kent, there's all this expectation in your head, and you can only hope the show matches up to them, and it does and more! I think it's different for us non-swedes, we're not exposed to kent in our media, we can't just walk into a shop and get the cd, or go to a gig in every tour, so when you do finally make the journey to see them, it's AMAZING! kent put on a great show

I said to my (non-kent) friend (who comes with me) that I only needed to see kent live once in my life, well that idea has now gone out the window!

Thanks again for the photos, it's making me all excited for Stockholm!

it's cool to hear you had a great night with kent trickster! and i feel the same with you and stjärnor. flying all the way from taiwan to sweden, with almost 15hr flight is definitely worth it! after seeing them live for the first time in 2005, i know i just wanna see more kent shows and truly i really regret that i can't make it to attend the summer tour. all the video clips i've watched on youtube and the review i've read just show me they are only getting better & better. oh and thanks a lot for the great photos trickster! the opening and what happened after the shows are so beautiful.

good luck stjärnor and other foreign fans that are going to see them this weekend! and maybe it's kind of late, i also wanna say thank you jocke/martin/markus/sami for the amazing shows these years. i've seen you guys live in 2005, 2010 and this spring, and hopefully there will be more for me to attend in the future!

You are correct on both regarding the Greek "Thank you" (and you are welcome!).

This is exactly what I was thinking. Living where I live I am not exposed to Kent the way the Swedes are.
No TV or radio airplay, no magazine articles. no songs in public places and no easy access to live shows.
This is why there has always been a mystery about this band which kept the flame alive and why not has been growing as time went by.
Of course it definitely helped that they have been releasing music that definitely meet my standards.

I know it will not be easy to convince my friends to visit Stockholm again anytime soon (we all loved both Stockholm and Uppsala but they want to see new places) but I am glad they said they want to visit Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki at some point.
Lucky me these are cities that Kent visit regularly for shows so I can hope that I ll manage to see them playing live again.

I suppose it is not your first time in Stockholm so you wont need any visitors tips ;-)

You are absolutely right. I have only watched youtube videos from past tours but I had the feeling that at the Uppsala show the band kicked some serious ass.
The level of professionalism in performing and being so close to the audience at the same time was unbelievable.
I am jealous that you were able to see them in 3 different tours.
I tried so hard to make a schedule that would involve more than 1 show but unfortunately the Stockholm date wasnt eligible and the Eskilstuna and Uppsala ones were a bit more apart from each other than I could afford.
Still stoked that I can finally say I was at a Kent show!
    WOOOHOOOO!!!

Yes, I've been a few times to Stockholm (I have lost count to be honest 6-10?), but if you have any tips, you can still share them, as there will be others travelling there who might not know, and it's always nice to hear other people's recommendations. If anyone wants any info, just ask and I'll see what I can do to help!

If anyone is travelling to Stockholm for the show on the 19th, there's a free culture festival running in Stockholm from 14th- 19th with various events on throughout the city (mostly around Norrmalm), the events are mostly in Swedish, but they might be interesting anyway- and the thing with the Voala Project (acrobats dangling on wires!) looks really cool, Ola Salo (from the band The Ark) is also performing on one of the nights with an orchestra. More info here, in english!

Ah! My tips will be useless to you ;-)

Are you planning to go to the Kent boutique in Eskilstuna?
I wish I had one extra day at my trip and I would definitely drop by.
Everything is 50% off and I could get a t-shirt and maybe some older pins and picks (if they have such small things).

Well, I hadn't planned to go to Eskilstuna, as I'm not sure it would be worth my while as I doubt any of the t-shirts will fit me (I'm quite small- think female gymnast, but without the bendy-ness!!!!), and to be honest, the bus/train fare wouldn't be worth it for just a wristband or something else like that. If it was in Stockholm, I'd have probably bought something from it.

I'm sure it's just the older merchandise that is 50% off (from what I read on twitter somewhere, Martin Roos' account, maybe?) the old stuff doesn't even show up in their online store anymore, so there's no idea what stock is available. I'm half tempted to buy some kent plectrums at the gig, even thought I can't play the guitar that's been sitting in my cupboard for years now! And if I had an iphone, I'd by the kent phone covers, just for the black one, it looks great!

In your 2nd photo above, what is the thing to the top left of the posters, a small grey rectangle, priced at 200SEK?

Was the jewellery (charms, by the looks of them) 400SEK each, or for the set of 4? (I doubt you bought them, so if anyone else knows...) I've not seen much info about them anywhere, are they sterling silver or just a base metal? What do they look like up close? And why isn't this stuff online, so we can see it properly?

And kent, 300SEK for a female t-shirt over 250SEK for a male one, is not fair! (even if they don't fit me!)

Yeah it was in Martin Roos' tweeter account where I saw the sale news but I cannot remember if it was for the old merch only (very likely it is).

That item seems that it is a key chain.
Here is the full size pic for you
    http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4554/img5927m.jpg

The 400 SEK jewellery was for the piece and not the set (I asked specifically about this) but did not ask for a closer look since they were too expensive for me.
I bought the iPhone case set (160 SEK for both packed in the same bag), and 2 plectrum sets (1 black and 1 white 40SEK each set).
(I do not own an iPhone4 nor a guitar. I just like the merch )

Btw check your PMs. I sent you a message.

Only the old merch is 50% off. They have the new merch and also all kinds of old merch, plectrums, badges, lanyards, the old silicone wristband and sweatbands. Also posters (tho the Röd posters are sold out already, I bought the last one so I know that for sure). T-shirts, hoodie, caps and beanies. Also the book and the new album both in vinyl and cd format, and I saw some older ones too, but I already had those. I already had most of the stuff that was 50% off, so I just bought some smaller things.

I have only one of the charms (can't afford to buy all of them), but here's a close up photo of it. I didn't pick it, this was the last piece they had at the show I bought it, so it was a take it or leave it thing - not that I could have decided for one if I had to, so I think it was better this way. It does have a silver sterling mark on the backside, but I can't make out the number, it does start with a 9 tho.

Edit: here's a link to a pretty good close-up with all the charms: http://styleby.nu/files/2012/05/Photo1118-448x600.jpg

I love that you bought the cases & the plectrums! Thanks for this close up photo- I thought it maybe was a keyring, but then I thought it couldn't be since it was priced at 200SEK! This totally sounds like I'm just bitching at the price of everything, and maybe I am, it's just that everything on the merch stall seems so expensive for what it is. I went into my local post office yesterday to enquire about currency, and they gave me such a poor exchange rate for kronor that I walked away in disbelief. (That keyring would be over £20 )

    Hi jazzpurist!

What gig did you go to? Did you enjoy it? (silly question?)

Thanks for the details of the stuff at the shop. I love the idea of a kent shop, but probably in reality if I went, I'd buy some small things that I'd never wear or use. Now if there was a kent mug, that would be used everyday! (I have a travis mug- the handle feels loose, so it's never been used, ironically!) Maybe they should market some nice wine glasses to go with their wines? I remember at a Maroon5 gig (no laughing!) there was even ladies pants (not the trouser variety, the underwear kind!) for sale! The old merch seems to have more smaller, affordable items than this tour.

Ah, you got a charm, nice! 925 is the mark for sterling silver (here in the UK at least) You were lucky, and maybe you're right that you never had to decide since you got the last one at that gig. Thanks for the pics too

I gotta go and get ready for work now

    jazzpurist thans for the pics.
Like stjärnor said these should be silver (hence the high price).

stjärnor I realized that the small amount of SEK I got with me was useless.
Everywhere I went I could pay with my credit card: supermarkets (even if I bought only a small bottle of water), bus tickets, Kent concert merch table, restaurants, fast foods etc.
The Lonely Planet guide said that the best place to exchange money is the small offices located in different parts of the city.
I found one in the Central Station and they exchange with a fee of 42 SEK per transaction which is pretty decent (the fee in Greece was 3 Euros).
I was adviced to avoid exchanging money in airports because of the bad rates.

I gotta go and get ready for work now
This year I was in Copenhagen in May, and Göteborg and Eskilstuna in July. Stockholm is still to go.

All three gigs were awesome, Göteborg was the best gig in my whole life, but the other two also had those precious little moments that will stay forever.

I just dropped in to the shop because I was in Etuna anyways and wanted to see it, I had no intention to buy anything. But it was the day after the gig and that's where the 50% off sale started, so I walked away with loads of things and spent only 90 kr in total.

I just realized it probably sounded like I own all kinds of old kent merch, but in reality I only own a couple of pieces. They are well loved and well used tho. What I meant was that I already owned the ones that I wanted to.

This year I bought a charm, the iphone cases and the tote bag, but that's how far I could make the budget stretch. I love some of the t-shirts too and they are said to be better quality than the older ones, but items that can be used everyday got the priority when I decided what to get. If they don't sell out by christmas, I might order one or two of them tho.

A mug would be awesome to have, but only if they don't stop production and I can replace it anytime if it happens to break. Otherwise I would be too worried to use it and that would pretty much make it pointless to buy it.

The craziest merch I've ever seen for a band was bed linen with the faces of the band members on the pillowcase, tho the panties easily top that.

    jazzpurist thans for the pics.
Like stjärnor said these should be silver (hence the high price).
I looked at the sterling mark at daylight and I could clearly make out 925 this time. It pretty much falls in the range of price I have bought silver sterling jewellery for, for example I paid approx this amount for earring in january this year.

*jealous* 4 kent gigs in one year...
And I understood that you had meant that it was the stuff you owned that was 50% off, not that you already had everything in the shop!

Is there anything anyone like to add onto the virtual kent merch list?
    - Mugs (useful!)
    - Pens (a very easy marketing object to produce, and also useful!)
    - kent pillowcases (only kidding!)

Trickster- that's actually a good tip for any visitor to Sweden with the credit cards/ currency. Just make sure to let your bank know you'll be using your card abroad (which reminds me, I need to do that soon!) I like to have my money before I go, and prefer using cash to cards, but thanks for the tips anyway! I usually get my currency direct from my bank, but the local post office promised me great rates when I enquired about it recently, I'll see what rate the bank are offering.
